SOURCE SPORTS: Colin Kaepernick Added to L.A. Chargers Workout List

Colin Kaepernick has at least one opportunity to return to the NFL this season. Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach Anthony Lynn revealed on Wednesday that the former 49ers QB will be on the team workout list.

Lynn, who is one of three Black head coaches in the NFL, saw potential Hall of Fame QB Phillip Rivers go to Indianapolis leaving a starting spot open on the team. The Chargers drafted QB Justin Herbert in the first round of the 2020 draft, but it’s not rare that teams shelf a rookie QB for at least a season if possible to allow room for development.

Lynn told reporters that Kaep “definitely fits the style of quarterback for the system we’re going to be running.” He also added that the team has not yet reached out to Kaep but does plan to in the future. The 32-year-old Kaepernick at his best was known for his ability as a rusher and has been praised for his “elite arm strength.”

Aside from Herbert, the Chargers also have former Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns QB Tyrod Taylor and 2019 5th round pick Easton Stick on the roster.

Kaepernick has not been on a roster since the 2016-2017 season, but sources close to the athlete/activist say he is in the best shape of his life.
