When you’re Kanye West rich, you can randomly launch a Presidential campaign.
It was safe to assume that Kanye West funded his own Presidential campaign, but he spent a pretty penny.
The rapper’s Federal Election Commission report shows that he spent $12.4 million out of his own pocket. Kanye secured a $2 million donation from outside donors, making his campaign cost a total of $14,538,989.74.
People reports that $13.2 of the entire budget was spent and at least $7.5 million went towards trying to get Kanye West ballot access in as many states as possible.
Regardless of the amount of money spent, the “Birthday Party” candidate didn’t meet the signature requirements in multiple states and missed crucial FEC deadlines.
At the end of the day, Kanye West secured an impressive 60,000 votes and documented his first-time voting experience voting for himself, of course.
West also received backlash for a series of comments made during rallies and Twitter, and this reportedly caused friction between him and his wife, Kim Kardashian who reportedly filed for divorce after six years of marriage.
“[Kim] will continue to focus on her business empire,” an insider told Us in January as the divorce loomed. “Kim has been in individual counseling and is at peace with where her life is headed.”
Their marital woes have been playing out in public, but fans will get more detail in the series finale of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
