Remembering Marvelous Marvin Hagler and The Best First Round in Boxing History

On Saturday, Marvelous Marvin Hagler’s wife announced to the world that the legendary boxer had passed away at the age of 66.

“Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire,” Kay G. Hagler wrote to his official Facebook page.

Hagler was the undisputed middleweight champion from 1980 to 1987, an incredible run that saw him successfully defend his title 12 times. His 52 knockouts in 67 career fights (78%) remain a high mark for middleweight champions.

Hagler was considered one of the four kings of boxing during the ’80s. Hagler’s matchups with Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas hitman Hearns arguably will go down as the best set of bouts in the middleweight division.
