LeBron James Praises Shai Gilgeous-Alexander After Back-to-Back MVP Win
The landscape of the NBA has shifted, and LeBron James is among the first to acknowledge the new guard. Following the announcement of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander securing his second consecutive MVP award, the Los Angeles Lakers icon offered high praise for the Oklahoma City Thunder standout, noting that the honor was both earned and indisputable.
During a recent episode of Mind the Game, James addressed the discourse surrounding the MVP voting. He emphasized that Gilgeous-Alexander’s performance throughout the season left no room for debate regarding his legitimacy as the league’s most valuable player.
“I think he’s very deserving and nobody can sit here and be like, ‘How the hell did Shai win again?’” James remarked. “Nobody can sit here and say that.”
James, who has faced the young star both in regular-season contests and during a recent four-game series, highlighted the unique challenges Gilgeous-Alexander presents to opposing defenses. According to James, the Thunder guard’s ability to dictate the pace and pressure of a game makes him a primary focus for any coaching staff.
“He does things to a defense, does things to opposing teams that you have to simply account for,” James added. “He’s number one and two and three on that scouting report, and he’s the head of the snake.”
