Indie Pop Artist Varun Sheel Releases New Single, “Over You”

Varun Sheel ’s musical journey began in a household where Western melodies and Bollywood rhythms coexisted, thanks to his father’s influence as a skilled vocalist and harmonium player. This rich heritage, along with Varun’s self-taught guitar skills, has resulted in a distinctive sound that combines traditional and contemporary indie pop elements.

Indie pop artist Varun Sheel has unveiled his latest single, “Over You,” a song that solidifies his unique style of blending diverse musical influences. Following the success of his previous hit, “More than Friends,” this new track emphasizes Sheel’s ability to create music that deeply resonates with his audience.

Varun Sheel‘s previous single, “More than Friends,” was a nostalgic ode to youthful love, characterized by its infectious guitar riffs and 80s-inspired synth sounds. With “Over You,” Sheel expands his musical palette while maintaining his signature blend of indie pop and Bollywood influences. 

“Over You” is a poignant exploration of emotional growth and liberation. Co-created with Durre Ali, the song showcases Sheel’s talent as both a songwriter and musician. Taking on the producer role, Varun Sheel crafted a rich soundscape featuring a dynamic blend of instruments including trumpet, tuba, trombone, strings, piano, and a solid rhythm section. The result is a lush and immersive musical experience.

Reflecting on the song’s creation, Varun shared, “The initial ideas for the guitar parts, chorus, and pre-chorus came to me in a flash. I was so eager to capture the moment that I ended up damaging my rug running out of the shower, towel in hand, to record it. Some songs take years to develop, but this one came together in minutes.”
