Are Beyonce & Jennifer Lopez About to Become First-Time Oscar Nominees?
The Pop Shop Podcast discusses upcoming Academy Award nods, plus 2020 festival lineups, Justin Bieber’s “Yummy” new hit & more.
Are Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez about to become first-time Academy Award nominees? The Oscar nominations will be announced Jan. 13, and the pair could join the ranks of such chart-topping pop superstars who have earned nominations as Janet Jackson, Barbra Streisand and Lady Gaga.
Beyoncé is a contender this year for best original song, as a co-writer of the song “Spirit,” from the remake of The Lion King, while Lopez is vying for a spot in the best supporting actress category for her role in Hustlers. But after neither of them won at this past weekend’s Golden Globe Awards (Jan. 5), should we be worried about their chances?
On the latest edition of the Billboard Pop Shop Podcast (listen below), the team discusses whether Beyoncé and Lopez will be waking up to an Oscar nod come Jan. 13, or if they will be shut out of the festivities.
In addition to the Oscar talk, the Pop Shoppers chat about what pop stars are gracing the recently revealed lineups of the upcoming Coachella, Bonnaroo and BottleRock music festivals, in addition to some “Yummy” chart news about Justin Bieber.
