Beyoncé and Solange step up to help Texans affected by the devastating winter storms. The Houston natives are both pledging their support to aid relief efforts.
Beyoncé and her BeyGOOD Foundation have teamed up with Adidas and Houston’s Bread of Life to provide disaster relief. This is more than what the Texas Mayor would ever do.
The Bread of Life Disaster Relief Assistance Fund offers one-time financial assistance to those who have an emergency-related financial hardship. Texas residents affected by the storm can apply for up to $1,000 in aid. However, due to the overwhelming response, the first round of applications has already closed.
Applicants are now being reviewed for immediate assistance, according to the application form. In addition, the foundation shares a tweet acknowledging Texans.
“We send our prayers to those impacted by the winter storm,” the foundation said on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Solange is also giving back to her home state via Mutual Aid Houston. The Mutual Aid Houston is a BIPOC-led abolitionist collective boosting mutual aid efforts within Houston. According to a tweet from the organization, Solange has provided a “significant donation” to help post-freeze housing efforts.
“Sending so much love back home and I’m committed to doing more…my heart breaks man,” tweeted Solange. “Thank you for all the endless work u guys are doing on the ground.”
