Billboard and Telemundo Announce On the Rise and Regional Goes Urban Panels for LatinFest+

Billboard and Telemundo announced today (Feb. 19) two new highly-anticipated panels taking place at this year's inagural LatinFest+ set to take place in Las Vegas in April. 

Exploring the urban and trap corridos movement, the "Regional Mexican Goes Urban" panel will discuss the newest regional Mexican music trend of fusing traditional corrido beats with urban or trap music. 

The discussion will feature key players ushering the movement such as label executives and artists who are moving forward the trend. Featued panelists include T3R Elemento’s Sergio Cárdenas, DEL Records founder Ángel Del Villar, Legado 7’s Alex Guerra, Rancho Humilde’s co-founder Jimmy Humilde, Fuerza Regida’s Jesús Ortiz Paz, singer-songwriter Lenin Ramírez and Arsenal Efectivo’s Shrek.

"Regional Goes Urban" will take place Tuesday, April 21. 

The other announced panel, "On the Rise: The New Generation of Urban Men and Women," is a spinoff of Billboard's On the Rise franchise published biweekly spotlighiting up-and-coming artists who are making waves in music. 

On Wednesday, April 22, enre-bending newcomers Natanael Cano, Cazzu, Jhay Cortez, Lunay, Mariah, Sech, Myke Towers and Manuel Turizo will join the candid conversation to discuss how they're pushing boundaries in the urban and trap genres. 

Cortez, Sech and Turizo all join the panel in the midst of tremendous success, having recently been announced as finalists in the artist of the year, new category at the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Cano, who is behind the corridos tumbados movement with songs that have gained popularity among young listeners and superstar Bad Bunny who jumped on a remix of Cano's "Soy el Diablo."  

Towers joins the panel following the success of his sophomore album Easy Money, Baby, which debuted at No. 1 on the Feb. 8 Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums charts.

Lunay, who in only 18 months of his career has already made an impact in the Latin music business, completes the lineup of panelists, joined also by Argentine star Cazzu and “Perreito” singer Mariah, two female powerhouses making waves in the Trap genre.

Other stars confirmed so far to participate at LatinFest+ include Ozuna, J Balvin, Rosalía and Los Tigres del Norte. Registration for 2020 LatinFest+ is already open at latinfestplus.com.

The inaugural Latinfest+ also marks the 30th anniversary of Billboard’s Latin Music Conference, the longest-running and biggest Latin music gathering in the world. Latinfest+ will be an immersive, week-long experience for the Latin entertainment industry, artists, executives and fans and will include superstar conversations, industry panels and workshops, celebrity fireside chats, live concerts, fan experiences and live activations of some of Billboard’s most celebrated franchises, including Growing Up Latino.

The three-day music event culminates with the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards, which will air live April 23 on Telemundo.
