Bon Iver Plot Series of Get Out The Vote Shows in Wisconsin
Fresh off a show in support of democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, Bon Iver will try to get their fans out to the polls in crucial swing state Wisconsin with a trio of get out the vote shows. As part of the 46 for 46 campaign that is leveraging the power of music to help elect a democratic president, the band will play shows in October in La Crosse, Wausau and Appleton, Wisconsin, in the lead-up to the Nov. 3, 2020 presidential election.
The only catch? Fans have to pledge to vote in order to get access to presale tickets for all three shows before they go on sale to the public on Friday (Feb. 21). Presale tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. CT on Wednesday (Feb. 19) here. The group's manager, Kyle Frenette, is one of the founders of the 46 for 46 effort to defeat Pres. Trump in November.
"They say Wisconsin could decide it all in 2020. We don't take that lightly, so we're asking fans to pledge to vote in order to gain access to presale tickets for all three shows," the band wrote in an post promoting the show. So far, a number of acts have lined up to be part of the 46 project, including Tacocat, Nathaniel Rateliff, Lissie, Houndmouth, Patty Griffin, Sylvan Esso, Dashboard Confessional and Cha Wa.
Bon Iver joined Vampire Weekend two weeks ago to play a Bernie Caucus Concert in support of Sanders in advance of the Iowa Caucus; the group performed a show at the Horizon Events Center in Clive, Iowa on Jan. 31.
