Chester Bennington’s Band Grey Daze Drops New Song ‘What’s In The Eye’
In December, Chester Bennington's wife Talinda revealed that his pre-Linkin Park band, Grey Daze, would "continue what Chester was working on, the things he was proud of and wanted to share with his fans" by releasing a posthumous album.
Now, fans get the first taste of the upcoming record with the first single released on Thursday (Jan. 16). "What's In the Eye," written by Bennington and his bandmate Sean Dowdell, talks about the grief following the loss of a friend who died in a car accident. It features the original vocals of the then-17-year-old Linkin Park frontman.
Chester and the band were in the process of re-recording their music to re-release on an album and eventually play a 20th anniversary reunion show at the time of his death in 2017. "He was so enthusiastic about doing this, he was eager to play rock music and there were messages in those songs he knew would be meaningful to fans," Talinda wrote in her announcement.
The full album is expected to drop this spring Loma Vista Recordings, though the group has yet to confirm an official release date. Listen to "What's In the Eye" below.
