Here’s the *Real* Reason Finneas Recorded Billie Eilish’s Grammy-Winning Album At Home
It's no secret that Finneas recorded little sister Billie Eilish's album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? — a Billboard 200-topping LP that dominated Sunday night's Grammy Awards — right in his bedroom. But it still comes as a surprise to many.
Finneas broke down the reason why he chose the homey venue on Twitter to dispel any misconceptions. "People act like recording billie's album in my bedroom was difficult but in reality, every time I'm in a fancy a– studio it takes them a f—ing hour to get the aux cord working," he wrote.
After amassing more than 12,000 retweets and 200,000 favorites for his blunt message, the five-time Grammy-winning songwriter/producer jokingly replied, "Okay This blew up lmao… check out the music I make with my lil sis- she's gonna [be] huge one day."
Well, duh.
Artists, engineers and managers related to the studio struggle, as 6lack replied with a laughing emoji and LANY's Paul Klein wrote, "i'm screaming. from thailand."
Alex Tumay, Young Thug's chief audio engineer who won a Grammy for engineering the 2019 song of the year "This Is America" by Childish Gambino, invited Finneas to "Come to my studio." But Roger Gold, who manages Camila Cabello and co-founded 300 Entertainment, also roasted the studio for its fundamental issues many people in the industry seem to run into. "Lol and 95% of the equipment is outdated," he chimed in.
