Without any announcement or sign of a return, J.Cole dropped a new single titled “Snow On Tha Bluff.”
The song finds Cole in a rapid-fire flow getting topics off his chest, which includes a “young lady out there she way smarter than me.”
The timeline was quick to point out that woman as Chicago rapper Noname. The Room 25 creator has been vocal about current issues plaguing Black people, during a period that is also highlighting the lack of care and concern for Black women.
Previously, Noname was noted to be critical of “top selling” rappers who were not present during uprisings and protests across America.
In addition to her tweets, Noname has initiated a book club to promote education on societal issues and encouraged others to pick up a book as the opportunity to gain knowledge is widely available.
J. Cole has surveyed social media and offered a response.
She mad at the celebrities, lowkey I be thinkin’ she talking about me
Now I ain’t no dummy to think I’m above criticism so when I see something that’s valid I listen
But shit, it’s something about the queen tone that’s bothering meJ. Cole – “Snow On Tha Bluff”
He wraps that segment of the rap with “talk like you better than me” and appealing for assistance opposed to talking down.
Fans have chimed in across the Internet in support of Noname, while others are aligning with Cole’s view for dialogue. Noname heard the song and addressed it on the timeline, tweeting and deleting “QUEEN TONE!!!!!!”
Also peaking on the matter is Ari Lennox from Cole’s Dreamville label vocalizing support for Noname on Instagram.
