Janet Jackson to Receive ICON Award, Perform at 2025 American Music Awards

CBS and Dick Clark Productions have announced that global music legend Janet Jackson will receive the ICON Award at the 2025 American Music Awards, airing live on Memorial Day, May 26. The 11-time AMA winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee will also deliver her first televised performance since 2018 during the live broadcast from Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

The ICON Award recognizes artists whose music has undeniably impacted global culture. Jackson, who recently celebrated 50 years in the music industry, continues influencing generations with her genre-defying sound and boundary-pushing performances. Her 2001 hit “Someone to Call My Lover” recently surged to the charts after going viral, demonstrating her enduring relevance.

Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the 51st AMAs will feature a star-studded lineup of performances, including one from Lopez herself. The ceremony will be broadcast live coast-to-coast at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on CBS and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.

Jackson’s appearance comes just days before the return of her Las Vegas residency, JANET JACKSON: LAS VEGAS, at Resorts World Theatre. Following her AMA performance, she’ll headline three more shows from May 28 to 31.

Throughout her career, Jackson has sold over 180 million records, won five GRAMMYs, and remains the only woman to debut in the top 10 Billboard Hot 100 across four consecutive decades. She sets records, most recently with her highest-grossing tour ever, 2023’s Together Again.

Tickets for the AMAs are available now via Ticketmaster, and fan voting is open at VoteAMAs.com and on Instagram. Voting closes May 15, with select categories remaining open during the show.
