Music has been our savior in what has undoubtedly been such a heavy year. However, It seems that even a global pandemic has not slowed down the creativity in the industry, and while we have watched the big stars flourish, there are other up and coming names that we need to take notice of. One artist you should have your eyes on is Indianapolis artist Makwolf and his slick album GOATLADIPO. The producer counts J Dilla, BIG K.R.I.T and Three 6 Mafia among his musical influences and the 8-track record inspired by his hometown, shows skill, conviction and most importantly his depth as an artist.
Makwolf gathered some of the best MCs from in and around his city to create this project, and playing off of the last name of his favorite player and hometown team star, Victor Oladipo, GOATLADIPO is nothing less than energetic, fresh, versatile and a true reflection of who he is artistically. Not only does it embody his unorthodox style of production, but it sonically pays homage to some of his musical influences.
This is a must listen record for any OG rap fan and with deep lyrics such as “Life is the meanest but also the sweetest” Makwolf will give you a different perspective.
