Ozzy Osbourne Says Fans’ Well-Wishes After Parkinson’s Disease Diagnosis Means ‘The Absolute World to Me’

Ozzy will be on stage presenting at the 2020 Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Jan. 26).

Ozzy Osbourne is truly touched by the outpouring from his fans in the wake of his reveal earlier this week that he has been diagnosed with a form of Parkinson's disease. The heavy metal icon discussed his battle with the progressive, incurable nervous system disorder during an interview with Good Morning America on Tuesday (Jan. 21), in which he said 2019 was the "worst, longest, most painful, miserable year of my life."

Hours after the interview aired, Osbourne posted a sweet note to the Ozzy Nation, writing, "Thank you all so much for your well wishes. It means the absolute world to me." In the interview, Ozzy talked about the horrible fall at home that re-aggravated an old injury, sidelining him for much of 2019, coupled with the Parkinson's diagnosis that came as an additional shock.

"It's PRKN 2," wife/manager Sharon Osbourne told GMA. "There's so many different types of Parkinson's; it's not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body. And it's — it's like you have a good day, a good day, and then a really bad day." The comments from the fans were indeed very sweet, with one writing, "you have influenced a lot of artist with your songwriting, you are truly incomparable and irreplaceable," and another saying, "No matter what Ozzy, we'll always love you. On a personal level, your music saved my life. For that you will always have my appreciation."

On Wednesday's The Talk, Sharon talked about the amazing "outpouring of love" from fans. "Just to have all this outpouring of positive reaction from everyone that watches the show, and our friends, it's heartwarming. And I know that Ozzy will be just over the moon. He will be taken aback," she said.

Osbourne, who will release his first solo album in a decade, Ordinary Man, on Feb. 21, will also present at Sunday night's (Jan. 26) 62nd annual Grammy Awards alongside Sharon.
