SOURCE SPORTS: Deshaun Watson Officially Requests a Trade

The Houston Texans have hired David Culley as the team’s new head coach and it appears that isn’t enough to keep Deshaun Watson around much longer.

Watson has formally requested a trade from the Texans, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. The star quarterback actually informed the team weeks ago that he wants out, and the hiring of Culley did not alter his mindset at all.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Texans have been receiving calls from interested teams for quite some time. To this point, Houston has told teams Watson will not be traded, though that probably will be changing as of right now.

Watson has been frustrated with the organization for some time now. Losing All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for cap space that the team mismanaged because of bad moves after another.

With the organization in a tailspin, the Texans can get a king’s ransom for arguably one of the top five quarterbacks in the league today.
