SOURCE SPORTS: Drew Brees Announces Retirement From NFL, Next Stop NBC Sports

Brees officially finishes his career as the NFL’s passing yardage leader with 80,358, though Tom Brady will almost certainly pass him next season. His 571 touchdown passes rank second all-time behind Brady.

Brees spent 15 of his 20 NFL seasons in New Orleans, where he helped the Saints win their only Super Bowl in franchise history back in 2010.

If you think Brees is going to ride into the sunset, think again. On Monday morning, Brees announced that he will be working with NBC Sports.

“I am going to be working for NBC,” Brees said. “I’m part of the team now! A good team.”

“I’m excited about that journey, I’m excited to stay very closely connected to the game of football. It’s been such an important part of my life, and I continue to be able to talk about it, show passion for it and bring my kids around for that ride there as well and let them be part of some of those special moments,” Brees said.
