Shaq continues to add to his repertoire. In his latest endeavor, Diesel has decided to step into the AEW ring. O’Neal has been a fan of the sport since his childhood. On Wednesday, March 3, he gets to truly live up to his “Diesel” nickname. He doesn’t plan on leaving without a victory.
“Oh, I’m winning,” he Shaq. “Guaranteed.”
“I’m the type that if I have a look and see you do it, I got it,” he said when speaking to The Associated Press. “I’m the type, I can never back down from a challenge. “I’m not a professional wrestler, but I’ve been in a match before. I’ve got a lot of moves in my arsenal.”
No one could ever doubt Shaq’s versatility. The 7 foot NBA Hall of Famer has displayed it throughout his illustrious career on and off the court. He has had success as a rapper, actor, and even dancer. Now he is diving head first into the ring as a wrestler, but you won’t see him doing any bizarre stunts.
“When you step inside somebody’s world, you have to stick to what you’re masterful at. I’m not acrobatic. I’m not going to be jumping off the ropes. I’m coming with the power game. When I get hands on him, I’m going to display this power.”
Shaq is not the first retired NBA superstar to step into the ring. Back in the ’90s both Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone wrestled during cameos for WCW, while in their professional primes. Back in 2016, Shaq even competed in the Andre The Giant battle royal at Wrestlemania.
He claims that Wednesday’s match “will top them all.”
