Sports icon and Golf Star Tiger Woods was seriously injured Tuesday in a vehicle rollover in Los Angeles County.
“Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries,” his agent Mark Steinberg said. “He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”
Woods had to be extricated from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life tools, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
ESPN reports Woods suffered series but non-life-threatening injuries and received surgery. Woods received a shattered candle and compound fracture.
After the crash, Woods was conscious and was able to communicate with those who arrived on the scene. Authorities also say there is no immediate sign of impaired driving.
A KABC-TV helicopter over the scene of the accident showed a car on its side with the front end heavily damaged. The vehicles airbags appeared to be deployed.
Woods was the sole occupant of the vehicle, the sheriff’s department said.
