Tory Lanez wants the right to publicly defend himself in the Megan Thee Stallion assault case.
The legal documents obtained by Complex states that the Toronto rapper wants to modify the restraining order that prevents him from speaking on the ongoing case. Tory argues that Meg used her platform to share “inflammatory information” meanwhile he’s prohibited from speaking on it.
His attorneys claim the prosecutors were presented with evidence that contradicts the Houston rapper’s statement about the July 2020 shooting.

This evidence includes eyewitness testimony, and “gunshot residue implicating others,” which he is not allowed to “disclose outside the legal process.”
The protective order prohibits Tory from responding to Megan’s claims or adding clarity to the false reports that his case was dropped.
The Suga rapper unleashed a series of tweets after the story went viral accusing Tory’s team of publishing the “fake news.”
“[Lanez’s] failure to respond to [Megan’s] inflammatory and misleading statements may be interpreted as conceding to her claims. Nothing can be further from the truth,” the motion reads. Her claims are and will be sharply disputed and contradicted by the evidence in the case… [Lanez] is unable to respond meaningfully to any of the statements made by [Megan]. [Lanez] has been careful to comply with the protective order, but at this point, the protective order is significantly prejudicial to [Lanez] and jeopardizes his right to a fair and judicial proceeding.”
