Track of the Week: Kalan.FrFr & Tay B’s “Don’t Move”

Life doesn’t get any better than the flossy grandeur on display in Kalan.FrFr’s latest visual drop to the single, “Don’t Move” featuring Detroit’s own, Tay B. The Roc Nation rapper’s big dawg status is emphasized in every frame: from a fleet of exotic cars, models and dancers, to icy drip, stacks of cash and celebrity cameos, the boastful lyricist is on a quest to live life beyond limits. 

In his creative zone, Kalan.FrFr stunts all over “Don’t Move,” dropping bars that warn listeners to keep it cool atop a g-funk soaked beat courtesy of producers Diego Ave, Chambers and George Jenkins. Directed by BenMarc, the music video gives viewers a cinematic glimpse into Kalan.FrFr’s popstar world, that begins with the West Coast artist backstage at a show before entertaining a packed-out crowd. From there, its quick clips of the duo trading verses in garage parking lots, while cruising the LA streets pushing a Maybach truck on hydraulics and generous strip club scenes. They match the energy of the collaboration including the song’s bouncy 808-beat. Kalan.FrFr doesn’t shy away from highlighting hip-hop’s superficiality or extravagance, he embraces it and turns it into a movie.

Over the last few years, Tay B has become one of Detroit’s Hip-Hop heavyweights collaborating with artists like Skilla Baby, 42 Dugg and Lil Baby, who recently co-signed Kalan.FrFr and Tay B’s performance of “Don’t Move” on From The Block. About the collab ,Kalan says, Working with Tay B was so dope, he’s the homie and bro rap fire. It was written! We didn’t have a choice but to make a banger.“
