Watch Moneybagg Yo Talk ‘Time Served,’ Roc Nation Deal & Yo Gotti’s Valuable Advice in ‘On the Block’

Moneybagg Yo stopped by the Billboard office on Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 14) to join Carl Lamarre, Bianca Gracie and chart expert Trevor Anderson for the latest installment of our On the Block series. Coming off the release of Time Served, Bagg broke down a couple of records from his album, explained why Roc Nation feels like home and reminisced on his old group with Blac Youngsta.

"It's an elevation from the last project I did," the 31-year-old said of building off the success of 43VA HEARTLESS, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in June. "The process for me making it ain't no different. I go in with the same process. Every time projects come out, people put it how they want to put it."

With his mentor Yo Gotti already having ties to Roc Nation, the decision to join the Roc family was an easy one. "I always dreamed of being with the biggest," Bag stated. "So here we go! I think I was in New York, but I forgot what we were doing."

After linking up with Blac Youngsta again for Time Served standout "1 2 3," Moneybagg said the duo's chemistry dates back to their days of being in the same hip-hop group. "Every time we get together it's a movie," he stated of the fellow Memphis rapper. "Before rap, we were around each other. We go all the way back. We actually was in a group before he took off. He took off then I took off right behind him. MGU — Memphis Greatest Unrated."

Before heading out, the "Style Ain't Free" rhymer gave out some valuable advice he learned from Yo Gotti early in his career. "Chase the dream, not the money," Bag said. "Sometimes the opportunity is bigger than the bag. You got to go for the dream and then the money's gonna come."
