Watch The 1975’s Matty Healy Play Emotional Unreleased Song ‘Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America’ at Brushfire Benefit
The song is slated to appear on the band’s upcoming “Notes On a Conditional Form.”
After appearing on stage in a hospital gown earlier this week following some medical issues, The 1975 frontman Matty Healy surprised fans again this week during the band's Australian tour by busting out an acoustic version of a new song. The track, which Healy previously revealed is titled "Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America," is slated to appear on the group's upcoming Notes on a Conditional Form album. And, if the lyrics are any indication, it is another well-sketched tale of love's confusion and delight.
"I'm in love with Jesus Christ, he's so nice/ I'm in love I'll say it twice/ I'm in love," Healy sang while strumming an acoustic guitar at an unplugged brushfire relief show at the Metro Theatre in Sydney, Australia, on Tuesday. As he strummed while seated on a couch, the twisty lyrics to the song — which Healy debuted in acoustic form on Instagram Live in December — drew some titters from the hushed crowd.
"I'm in love but I'm feeling low/ For I'm just a footprint in the snow/ I'm in love with a boy I know/ But that's a feeling I can never show," he sang in video of the rare solo acoustic performance captured by fans.

So far, fans have heard a handful of songs from the eagerly anticipated album, including the blissful bop "Me & You Together Song," as well as "Frail State of Mind," "People" and the opening instrumental, which samples teen climate activist Greta Thunberg. Notes is due out on April. 24.
