Will Smith Drops First Full-Length Album in 20 Years, ‘Based on a True Story’

Will Smith, the GRAMMY-winning artist, actor, and entertainer, has released his first full-length album in two decades, Based on a True Story, via RITW/SLANG Recordings. The 14-track project features a range of collaborators, including DJ Jazzy Jeff, Teyana Taylor, Jac Ross, Joyner Lucas, Russ, and Jaden Smith. Among the album’s tracks are previously released singles like “First Love,” “Beautiful Scars,” “TANTRUM,” “Work of Art,” and the chart-topping “You Can Make It.”

To celebrate the release, Smith has announced his first-ever headlining tour, the Based on a True Story Summer Tour, set to visit major cities across Morocco, Europe, and the UK. The tour kicks off on July 13th in Hamburg, Germany, with stops at renowned international festivals, including Mawazine in Morocco, POSITIV Festival in France, Dreambeach in Spain, and BIG ART Festival in Italy. Recently, Smith made a triumphant return to the charts, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay Chart with “You Can Make It” featuring Fridayy and the Sunday Service Choir. He debuted the song at the 2024 BET Awards, further fueling excitement for his new musical era.
