Report – Sepultura Drummer Posts + Deletes Explanation for Why He’s Leaving Band’s Tour

On Monday (April 4), longtime Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande (pictured above in 2015) reportedly posted and then deleted a statement saying he would exit the group's ongoing tour of North America after suffering a broken leg, explaining that he would return to the metal band's native Brazil to recover.

He apparently added that Sepultura would continue the tour without him.

According to ThePRP, Casagrande, the former Iahweh drummer who joined Sepultura in 2011, said he fractured the tibia and fibula in his right leg after falling offstage during the act's show in El Paso, Texas, on April 3. However, the message is no longer available.

"It is with deep sadness that I announce that I have unfortunately broken my right leg," Casagrande reportedly said in the statement that apparently included an image of an X-ray but was subsequently scrubbed from social media.

He continued, per ThePRP, "Yesterday, at the El Paso show, during the break between songs I ended up falling off the stage and fracturing my tibia and fibula. I'm going back to Brazil to start the recovery. I'll see you soon! The tour will continue, but without me. More news coming soon. I ask for your support."

It's currently unclear why Casagrande deleted the message. Regardless, Loudwire wishes him the best in his reported recovery. As of this writing, the latest post on Casagrande's Instagram and Twitter profiles is a group shot of Sepultura onstage in Dallas on April 2. Without mentioning the drummer, Sepultura shared a tour update on Monday.
