Reunited and it feels so good.
Former ESPN hosts Jemele Hill and Cari Champion will host a new weekly talk show, Disruptors, that is “slated to debut this summer on Vice TV, according to Brian Steinberg of VARIETY.
Their new show on Vice TV will welcome discussions from a variety of topics including, sports, business, culture, and politics. The show will debut later this summer with eight episodes.
Hill if you remember, parted ways with ESPN after getting pulled from the 6 pm SportsCenter and having a history with issues with the NFL and President Donald Trump.
“Sports is intertwined with politics,” Champion told Variety. And while there’s a percentage of the audience who yells “stick to sports,” it won’t cause Vice to limit the show’s topicality.
“We’re about courageous storytelling,” Vice GM Morgan Hertzan said. “And now more than ever, it’s critical we hear from brave voices like Cari and Jemele’s for their take on the most important stories of the day.”
Champion departed ESPN in January of this year, after originally joining the network in 2012 as host of First Take with Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith. In July 2015, Champion became a SportsCenter anchor and began her first stint hosting Coast to Coast the following February
Hill and Champion were stars at ESPN. If Vice was smart, they would let these ladies cook and get out their way and let them create amazing content.
